What happened

Milan came into the night needing a European result — one win and two defeats in the league phase, and a rotated side after the weekend's derby win — and for 52 minutes a goalless draw was drifting their way on possession alone. Then a back-pass inside their own box was cut out and Joseph tapped in; fourteen minutes later the same pair combined again, Zachariassen setting up Joseph for 0–2. Even a red card for their substitute could not open a door Milan, for all their ball, barely knocked on: two shots on target all night.
