Atalanta 0–3 Parma: Fabbian, a Zappacosta own goal and Lontani stun Bergamo — Gilardino's first win lifts Parma out of the relegation zone

Parma beat Atalanta 3–0 at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo on Monday 2 November 2026, in Serie A Matchday 10 — one of the results of the season so far. Giovanni Fabbian headed in Vincent Sierro's corner four minutes before half-time; Davide Zappacosta diverted a cross into his own net two minutes after the restart; and Simone Lontani curled in the third from outside the area on 58 minutes. Parma had gone into the game in the bottom three on five points, still waiting for Alberto Gilardino's first win since taking charge; the win — their first away from home in Serie A this season — lifts them out of the relegation zone. Atalanta, who had 70% of the ball and 19 shots, stay on 11 points and are now winless in five matches in all competitions — per Football Italia's full report, read in full, the Sportradar Serie A match record and Flashscore's report.

What happened

Atalanta ran the first half-hour — Charles De Ketelaere dragged one wide, forced Giovanni Daffara into a near-post save and fired past the far post, Ederson whistled one inches wide — but Parma's first set piece of note told: Sierro's corner on 41 minutes, Fabbian heading home from close range, and Daffara then kept out Nicola Zalewski's volley just before the break.

Two minutes after the restart Zappacosta stretched to cut out El Bilal Touré's cross and diverted it inside his own post; on 58 minutes Fabbian teed up Lontani, who curled a superb shot from outside the area into the bottom corner. Maurizio Sarri threw on four substitutes, Daffara saved again from Krstović, Pašalić headed against the bar — and Parma held a clean sheet that their five points at kick-off had not promised.

Both sides, in their own words

Both sides heard. Neither believed for free. Publishing a side's version is not endorsing it — the claim checks below are where verdicts live.

Side A · Parma

  • Bottom three at kick-off, 3–0 winners at full-time: Fabbian's header, the own goal and Lontani's curler gave Gilardino his first win in charge.
  • A first away win of the season and out of the relegation zone — with a clean sheet against a side that had 19 shots.

Side B · Atalanta

  • Atalanta had 70% possession, the game's first half-hour and a string of chances — De Ketelaere, Ederson and Krstović all went close before Parma scored.
  • The injury list is real — only 19 players were called up — and Pašalić hit the bar late on; the performance was not a 3–0 performance, even if the scoreboard says so.
