What happened

Inter's defeat in Saturday's Derby della Madonnina opened the door, and Lazio nearly failed to walk through it: behind after 21 minutes at home to Cagliari, level by half-time through Isaksen's delicate finish, and still level with seven minutes left.

The winner had a scramble in it — Pedraza, falling as he met Isaksen's cross, hooked the ball back for Pinamonti to head home — and Cagliari's ten men could not answer in what time remained.

Both sides, in their own words

Both sides heard. Neither believed for free. Publishing a side's version is not endorsing it — the claim checks below are where verdicts live.

Side A · Lazio

  • Nine wins from ten, three points clear at the top: even a goal down at home, this Lazio side found the equaliser and the late winner.
  • Gattuso says don't look at the table — his players are top of it anyway.

Side B · Cagliari

  • Cagliari led at the Olimpico through Nzola and were seven minutes from a point before Pinamonti's header.
  • The performance, if not the result, is the kind that keeps a side believing: they finished with ten men and still pushed.
