Nigeria's sprint double at Dakar 2026: Nwankwo and Bright win both 100m golds at the Youth Olympics

Nigeria won both 100 metres titles at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games on Sunday 8 November 2026. Rosemary Chigozie Nwankwo won the girls' final in 11.16 seconds, ahead of the UAE's Arwa Ali (11.41) and Qatar's Dana Salem (11.48). Gift Bright won the boys' final in a personal-best 10.28, ahead of China's Hangyu Zhang (10.57) and Poland's Szymon Dolega (10.61). They are Nigeria's first two gold medals of the Games — and Bright is the first Nigerian to win the boys' Youth Olympic 100m title.
