What happened

The match was decided in its first quarter-hour. Neves fired in from close range in the 9th minute, Doué found the top corner three minutes later, Mayulu volleyed a rebound within a minute of the restart, and Ruiz converted Akliouche's assist in the 17th — at 16 minutes and 2 seconds, the quickest four-goal haul in the competition's history, per PSG's own report and Reuters.

Ruiz scored his second five minutes after half-time, played in by Vitinha, and Boly — on for his first appearance in the competition — curled in the sixth in the 78th minute. Villarreal, third in La Liga last season, had no answer at any point.
