What happened

United fell 2–0 behind inside four minutes — Opta, via TNT Sports, called it the fastest they have ever trailed by two in the Premier League — and after fighting back to 2–2 by half-time, conceded twice more in the first eight minutes of the second half. The game looked gone at 4–2 in the 91st minute. Then Zirkzee swept in Dorgu's ball, and with the goalkeeper up for a last corner, Dorgu headed in after Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki failed to deal with it. A point rescued — and still United's worst start in decades.
