Abia police say suspects in the Uratta headquarters attack have been arrested and 10 stolen children rescued
The Abia State Police Command says it has arrested suspects involved in the 17 October 2026 attack on the Uratta Divisional Police Headquarters, rescued 10 stolen children and reunited them with their families, and recovered 15 firearms, 30 stolen vehicles and 60 rounds of ammunition in operations across the state. Commissioner of Police Afolabi Wilfred announced the figures on Friday 6 November while briefing journalists on the command's work since 11 September. Every figure in this story is the police command's own account, announced by the command itself; the command says one suspect confessed to leading the attack team — an allegation from preliminary investigation, not a court finding — and that investigations are continuing.
