What happened

For 54 minutes this was the Atlético home game Europe knows: compact, stubborn, goalless. Then Le Normand lingered on the ball a moment too long, Karl — 18 years old, and already on five Champions League goals — nipped in and lifted his finish over Jan Oblak.

Atlético chased the game and Bayern finished it: Kane's pass found Laimer, who rifled the second into the roof of the net in the 74th minute. Reuters noted the setting carries a promise — the Metropolitano hosts this season's final in June, and Bayern have now won in it.

Both sides, in their own words

Both sides heard. Neither believed for free. Publishing a side's version is not endorsing it — the claim checks below are where verdicts live.

Side A · Atlético Madrid

  • The fortress finally fell: a nine-match unbeaten run ended at home, and a defensive error opened the door an 18-year-old walked through.
  • Atlético sit on four points from four matches, with work to do to reach the knockouts.

Side B · Bayern Munich

  • A first-ever win at Atlético's home, earned with a long injury list: discipline at the back, then two clinical second-half finishes.
  • Unbeaten on eight points and up to eighth — back in the top-eight places that go straight to the last 16.

Lennart Karl scored in the 54th minute, pouncing on Robin Le Normand's hesitation on the ball, and Konrad Laimer scored in the 74th from Harry Kane's pass.
